Silja Line ships are a bit (but only a couple of years) newer and bigger than Viking Line's vessels. The service has gone down on Silja and become better on Viking Line, so servicewise they are on par. As an experience I would choose Silja Line (Silja Symphony/Silja Serenade). See for yourself:
